Elizabeth Sprigg who married Robert Wade was a daughter of Thomas Sprigg, gentleman, (1630-1704) & his second wife Eleanor Nuthall, daughter of John Nuthall. (ACROSS THE YEARS IN PRINCE GEORGE'S CO, Effie Gwynn Bowie, Richmond, 1947, reprinted Genealogical Publishing Co, Baltimore 1975). Thomas Sprigg, Jr., brother of Elizabeth Sprigg Wade, and his first wife Margaret Osborn, had a daughter Priscilla Sprigg, who married Ralph Crabb and had a daughter Sarah Crabb. Robert Wade, Sr. of Prince Georges County, Maryland, was a son of Zachariah (Zachary) Wade and Mary Hatton of Charles County, Maryland. Robert Wade, Sr. died in 1714. His wife Elizabeth Sprigg Wade died after 04 November 1713. Robert Wade Sr Will-proved Prince George’s Co Court 2 Feb 1713 (old calendar; 1714 modern calendar) he bequeathed Wife Elizabeth was named executrix and inherited the dwelling plantation, the Friendship tract, both during her lifetime, and the remainder of his personal estate.

Robert Wade, Sr. of Prince Georges County had a brother, Richard Wade (c1664-1727), whose first wife was Ann Jones. Robert Wade, Sr. of Halifax County had a nephew and legatee named Stephen Jones. Association of Robert Wade and William Stone provides additional circumstantial evidence linking Robert Wade of Halifax County to Robert Wade of Prince Georges County, Maryland. Theodosia Wade, sister of Robert Wade, Sr. of Prince Georges County, married William Stone, who may have been a grandson of Captain William Stone, who went from the eastern shore of Virginia to Maryland, where he became governor. Circumstantial evidence substantiate the plausibility of a connection between Wades of VA & Wades of MD. Robert Wade, Sr. of Prince Georges Co, MD, was a son of Zacharias (Zachary) Wade & Mary Hatton of Charles Co, MD, where Zacharias died in 1677. One of his (Robert Wade) legatees was William Hatton, whose relationship was not described in the will.
