From story in the Pendleton Times Newspaper: On 28 Apr 1785 ... The six Seybert children were taken captive. The eldest son, Nicholas, was sold to the French and taken to Canada, where he escaped in 1761. The others were released in 1764.32789,32790

Pg 6 Will Book 1, pg 112-113:24918,3728 21 Mar 1795. Will of Henry Seybert, farmer. Very Sick and weak in Body. Wife Rachel: bed and furniture, one third of lands, household goods, livestock. Son Jacob Seybert: tract I now live on, he to pay ₤54, VA, in equal shares to each brother and sister as they come of age. He shall also do his best to raise the children in a Christian and Sober Life and to give them all the education possible. If any of the boys wish to learn a trade, they to be bound at age 18; otherwise, to remain with Jacob till age 21. All moveables to be divided equally among children. Executor: non named. Signed Henry Seybert. Witnesses: George Hitz, David Moore, William Smith. No probate data.

Military
John Heinrich (Henry) Seybert served in the Revolutionary War. Gravestone in the Seybert Family Cemetery, reads: Virginia PVT Capt. Weiser’s Co. German BN Continental TRPS Rev. War. Jul 27, 1830. He is actually buried in Crabbottom and died in 1795.
