Mrs. Cleek- Mrs. Bertha Gum Cleek of Route one, Pine Cedar road, Brooks, died Our Lady of Perpetual Care Hospital in Thursday afternoon where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. Mrs. Cleek was the widow of Benjamin Harrison Cleek who died in 1951. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Matilda Seibert, born and reared in West Virginia. She made her home in Atlanta for several years before moving to Brooks nine years ago to make her home with her son & daughter, Mr. & Mrs. George Smith.
In addition to Mrs. Smith, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Arthur Hill of Lanham, MD; a sister, Mrs. Clara Nicely of Covington, VA; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted in Haisten's Chapel Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev James Fields will officiate. The body will be sent to Hot Springs, VA, for services and burial Sunday afternoon. The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Our Lady of Perpetual Care Hospital. Haisten Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
