After the battle of Boroughbridge, he received large grants of lands forfeited by the rebels. He accompanied the King in his fight to Wales in Oct 1326. Hugh Le Despenser, Lord Le Despenser, was taken to Hereford, tried, without being allowed to speak in his own defence, condemned to death as a traitor and hanged 24 Nov 1326

He was taken to Hereford, tried without being allowed to speak in his own defense, condemned as a traitor and hanged on a gallows 50 feet high 26 Nov 1326. His head was set up on London Bridge, and his quarters sent to be hung up at Dover, Bristol, York and Newcastle (his bones were later collected and buried in Tewkesbury Abbey with his wife.17386
