p.14 Henry Porch was a Revolutionary Soldier having served as a Private. He enlisted for a term of one year in the month of August before the Battle of Guilford Court House in North Carolina by the troop commanded by Nathaniel Green. He enlisted in Lewisburg in the company commanded by Capt John Sharp, in the 2nd Regiment of the North line on the Continental establishment., near the close of his enlistment he was detached under Capt. John Bush to guard the Country from the excursions of the British near the sound-discharged by Capt. Bush at a place called the White house ten miles from Charleston in So., Carolina.. He stated the reason he had not filed for a pension sooner, was that he had always been able to maintain himself..
Henry Porch was granted a pension of $60.00 per annum, at five dollars a month. Descendants are eligible for membership in the DAR and SAR. Pension file # 9234.
