Pg 19 Capt William Fowler .. At East Haven, “Fowler’s Cove,” and “Fowler’s Creek” now so-called, were named from him. About two miles from New Haven, now the village of Whitneyville, and on the side of the establishment for the manufacture of fire arms, erected by Eli Whitney, the inventor of the cotton gin, Mr. Fowler built a mill, 1645, which the town bought of him 3 Jan 1659, for one hundred pounds.64309

Capt William2 Fowler, the s/o William1 Fowler, the “magistrate” did not participate with his father in the settlement of Milford, but remained at New Haven, where he took the oath of fidelity, 1644 and was admitted to the General Court, 1645. He was a land holder at New Haven, where he was living, 1655. East Haven, “Fowler's Cove” and “Fowler's Creek” now so-called, were named from him. About two miles fm New Haven, now the village of Whitneyville, and on the site of the establishment for the manufacture of fire-arms, erected by Eli Whitney, the inventor of the cotton gin, Mr. Fowler built a mill, 1645, which the town bought of him, 3 Jan 1659, for one hundred pounds.
