(2) Letter: VA, Alleghany Co, 29 May 1871 Lutitia Walton, aged 82 yrs, resident of Falling Spring Valley in Alleghany, VA declares that she is the widow of Edmund P Walton, who served the full period of 60 days in the company of (blank) who was a captain of Militia in the service of the US in the War of 1812, and who was the identical Edmund P Walton, who was drafted in Capt (blank) company, (blank) regiment, (blank) brigade, (blank) division, at Staunton, Augusta Co VA on the (blank) day of (blank) 181_, I was honorably discharged at (blank). Also personally appeared George H Payne of Covington, & Willliam Richardson of Jacksons river, both of Alleghany Co VA, ... duly sworn ... Lutitia Walton, her mark to the foregoing declaration. ... She is the identical person she represents herself to be....
