Custom House Appointments and Removals. - The Boston Atlas publishes the appointments and removals in the Custom House, as follows: The following persons have received appointments: Inspectors - Arthur F. Wilmarth, of Adams7060

New York Tribune, New York, NY Dec 23, 18747061
Col A.F. Willmarth, Vice President of the Home Insurance Company, was presented yesterday afternoon by the attaches at the office in this city, with a handsome testimonial, as a mark of their personal esteem. The gift was an elegant cane, with a massive gold head, ehased (sic) elaborately and being appropriate inscriptions. The presentation was made by Assistant Adjuster Bartis, who remarked that while he had been ordered, literally, to “cane” the recipient, a tender feeling admonished him to lay it tenderly, like the old schoolmaster upon the hand and not the back. Mr. Willmarth, quite overcome with surprise and emotion, expressed his appreciation of the gift in graceful terms.
