Part 1 Pg 9 Robert12 de Newburgh in 1322 was one of the knights taken prisoner at the battle of Boroughbridge in a rebellion under the Earl of Lancaster against King Edward II. By his participation in this rebellion, his estates became forfeited to the Crown; but he secured a pardon and restoration of his lands by payment of a fine of £100 (equivalent to $10,000 in money value of the present day), taking an oath of allegiance to the King, and binding himself to serve the latter in his wars; this service he performed in 1325 on a summons for an expedition into Gascony85454
