The MD Militia in the Revolutionary War (Silver Spring, MD: Family Line Publications, 1987) p.215) Private, St Mary's Co, reported as a “deserter fm the Continental Army” in Jun 1778 (Ref: D-330 Archives of MD, Vol. XVIII. “Muster Rolls and Other Records of Service of MD Troops in the American Revolution, 1775-1783” (Baltimore: MD Historical Socy, 1900) p.330, which listed the name as “Benjamin Thomson”). However a Benjamin Thompson served in the 2nd MD Line fm 10 Jan 1777, until discharged on 10 Jan 1780 (Ref: D-169 ibid p.169). Also this or another Benjamin was a seaman aboard the State ship Defence in 1776 (Ref: S-25 Beitzell, Edwin W.
