He was one of the chief advisers of William the Lion, and during the invasion of England in 1174 commanded a part of the Scottish army before Alnwick. Under the treaty of Falaise, in Aug 1175, Morville was one of the hostages given by William for its fulfilment (Hoveden, ii. 60, 75)17387
