After lago was slain in 1039, Gruffydd gradually reestablished control over all Wales, and become one of its best kings. Gruffydd was slain by treachery 5 Aug 1062 and his head taken to Harold Godinson (later Harold II, k. at Hastings 1066; Denmark 34, Chapter 2, who two years later Marr: his widow Edith.
