Hugh de Audley was in the French wars 1294-99 (age c 27-32) the Scottish wars 1299-1302 (age c 32-35) and in Gascony 1304-05 (age c 37-38) Justice of N Wales 1306 (age c 39) and Governor of Montgomery Castle 1309 (age c 42); joined the Earl of Lancaster’s insurrection 1321 (age c 54), but surrendered before the battle of Boroughbrdge 16 Mar 1322 (age c 55) and was confined in Wallingford Castle where he d: 1326 (age c 59). He brought the manors of Eastington, co Gloucester, and Thornbury, co Hereford
