17384Pg 208 Chap 2, Bartholomew de Baldesmere, he was granted several manors and castles, and made Steward of the King’s Household to Edward II. Notwithstanding the many favours he had received, Bartholomew joined the Earl of Lancaster in his rebellion. In Oct 1321 Margaret refused to admit Queen Isabel to the King’s castle at Leeds in Kent. Edward besieged and captured the castle 11 Nov 1321, imprisoned Margaret in the Tower, and civil war began. Bartholomew was captured after the battle of Boroughbridge 16 Mar 1322, and hanged as a traitor at Canterbury 14 Apr 1322 (age c 47)
