Inscribed on the Roll of SC at the rate of $25.99 per annum to commence 4 Mar 1831. Certificate of Pension issued 20 Jul 1833 and sent P. Noble, Abbeville, C. H. S. C. Pg 7 10 Aug 1832 Abbeville District SC Newell Walton appeared in Abbeville SC Court to declare in order to benefit from service in Rev War. He in low state of health. He was born in Hanover County VA 13 Dec 1763. In 1780 I went to live in Louisa Co, where I was enrolled and drafted with the 2nd Division of Militia Jan 1781. Called to service at the time of Arnolds Incursion up James River under the command of Captain Harris. Marched in & through several counties before we were discharged. Retired to Hanover and lived with his mother where he was enrolled and drafted into the 10th Division of the Militia Corps in Month of March, substituted for a man in the 2nd Regiment of General Stevens Brigade. After released, substituted for John Spencer after serving out his tour the Division which I was drafted into in Hanover County being called out & had to serve in his own place under the Command of Capt Thompson, after being released from that tour, substituted again until discharged at the siege of Cornwallis. Never had a written discharge. (Much more)
