54947Pg 40 On the death of his mother in 1081 he (Robert De Beaumont) (being heir to her br. Hugh), was acknowledged as Comte De Meulan or Mellent and did homage accordingly to the King of France, sitting in 1082 as a Peer of France in a Parl. at Poisay.
Pg 40-41 (Robert De Beaumont) first wife is said to have been Godeschilde, d/o Ralph (sometimes tho erroneously, called Roger), Seigneus De Toeni Et Conches. From her (if indeed she ever was m. to him) he was separated before 1096. He is also said (tho probably in error) to have m. Emma d/o Roger De Breteuil.

In 1090, he fought in Normandy against Robert de Belleme (afterwards, third Earl of Shrewsbury), who was supported by Duke Robert. He was with Henry I, at Windsor on 3 Sep 1101, but later went with Duke Robert to Normandy and supported him against the King, who confiscated his English property which was restored to him in 1103. In 1106 and 1119, he commanded a division of the Royal Army and was present at the death of Henry I, 1 Dec 1135
