Successor as Lord of Davenport & Marton in Cheshire,England. He had a grant of the magisterial serjeancy of the forests of the hundred of Macclesfield and Leeds from Randle Blunderville, Earl of Chester. The powers of this office were the highest the Earl could bestow, as it placed in several cases at this disposal of the serjeant the lives of his subjects without delay and without appeal. He held rents of the constable of Chester, Edmund de Lacy - connection to the Lacy family, the Barons of Halton & Earls of Lincoln. He also witnessed a number of charters with leading members of the county society. He witnessed over forty charters.
53735Image14of400 Pg 14 Vivian de Davenport had a grant of the magisterial sergeancy of the hundred of Macclesfield, from Randle Blunderville, earl of Chester, by charter made during the justiceship of Philip de Orreby between 1209 and 1226. It appears that the grant was made to Vivian Davenport, against his will, as a compensation for the park and vivaries of Macclesfield, of which the earl had deprived him, but which Vivian did not consider an adequate compensation.
