3000Pg 3-4, W 6388, 19 Jul 1842 Franklin Co GA, Mrs. Anna Wade, age 78, appeared in Franklin Co GA Court to declare benefits as widow of Joshua Wade, dec’d of Bedford Co VA who was a private soldier in the Rev War in the regular and militia service. He enlisted and served two years or more as a private in the regular infantry service as a substitute (as she id disposed to think) in the place of his brother Isaac Wade, who enlisted under Captain George Lambert of 14th VA Regiment who was cashiered & his men put under another Capt. .. served three militia tours after he served in the regular service, one of which was to the south in North & South Carolina as far south as the Chinaw Hills in fall or winter of 1780 & 1781 serving four months on this occasions. He was also at the Battle of Guilford in NC in Mar 1781 and York Town in Vain Oct 1781 when Cornwallis was taken, serving two months or more on each of these last tours. She was married to the said Joshua Wade on 2 Nov 1786 Bedford Co VA by Rev James Mitchell. Her husband Joshua Wade d: abt 17 Feb 1800 from an injury rec’d from sliding on the ice. A few years after his death abt Nov 1802-3 she removed to GA and settled in Elbert Co and has since moved to Franklin Co GA where she now resides. Her maiden name was Boatright.
