In order to verify the baptismal date and parentage of James Be(a)ll, we engaged the services of the Scots Ancestry Research Society, at 20 York Place, Edinburgh 1, Scotland. On Jul 28, 1967 the secretary of the Society, Miss Patricia Baxendine wrote this compiler that she had located the following marriage and birth records, in the old Register for St Andrew’s Church in St Andrews:
- Thursday 26th of March 1646 contracted Alexander Bell with Margaret Ramsay, both in this Citie, married 21st May
- 5th Feb 1652 Alexander Bell, brabener (weaver) & Margaret Ramsay, a son baptized called James. William and Janet Gourlayes witnesses

Pedigree Chart: James Beall Marr: 1693 Sarah Peerce; His Parents Alexander Bell & Margaret Ramsay;47338 (The Alexander Bell & Margaret Ramsay I have are born too early (1565) to be this James Beall’s parents?)

Descendants of Alexander Beall 1649-174428911 (If this Alexander b: 1565 then he would have been 84 when son, Alexander born? And wife would have been about 80 when she had this son? Either the birth dates are wrong or the parents are wrong)
