CLEEK, JOHN R.: Co. E: Company E, Captain Harvey Gray's Company, was formerly Company E(2) of the 21st, first commanded by Gray and then by Captain Martin B. Fugate. Fugate's Company was enhanced on March 1, 1865 in Scott County by the enlistment of members of the 13th Battalion Virginia Reserves.

The Scott County Militia (no number noted) was mustered into for 14 days on April 6, 1862 in Washington County, Virginia. A total of 572 men served in this unit. Many of these men enlisted in the 21st Battalion Virginia Infantry, which later became part of the 64th Virginia Infantry.
