Ltr to State of PA, Armstrong Co, (S.S.) On 4 Dec 1868 personally appeared before me, a Justice of the Peace in the for said County and State, Dr. R. S. McCurdy, a resident of Armstrong County, PA to me well known as a practicing physician, in good and regular standing and a credible witness, who being duly sworn, says that John Sweeney, father of Dennis Sweeney, dec’d, late of Co C, 14 Reg’t PA Cav from age (being in his sixty?-sixth year) and otherwise physically disabled, is disqualified from performing that amount of manual labor necessary to a proper support of himself and wife and that he has been in this condition for the last six years. Deponent further states that he has no interest in the claim made for pension. /s/ R. L. McCurdy, MD
