Miss Cleek Becomes Bride of Mr. Hill in Wash, DC Mr & Mrs. B. H. Cleek of Hot Springs announced the marriage of their daughter, Bertha Lucille Cleek, to Arthur Neil Hill, son of Mr. & Mrs.Joseph P.Hill of Washington, DC.
A beautiful double ring ceremony was performed at the Mt. Vernon Methodist Church in Washington, on Saturday evening, January10, at 8:30 o'clock. The RevA.N.Warner, pastor of the church officiated. The bride wore a light grey suit with black accessories and wore a corsage of white rosebuds. Mrs.George Smith, only sister of the bride, was matron of honor & wore a brown dress with matching accessories & a corsage of yellow roses. Little Joanne Watts, neice (sic) of the groom, attired in a pink ruffled frock trimmed in white, with a corsage of yellow roses, was ring bearer, carrying the rings on a pillow matching her dress. Mr.Louis Padgett, brother-in-law of the groom, was best man. The bride was given in marriage by her father. Mrs.Norma Schatz, accompanied by the organist, sang "Because", "I Love You Truly" and "The Lord's Prayer". Many friends and relatives of the bride & groom were present. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the home of the groom's parents, & many lovely wedding gifts were opened. The couple left immediately after the reception for Niagara Falls,N.Y. for their honeymoon. Upon their return they will make their home in Washington, where both are employed.

Cleek-Smith Mr & Mrs. B. H. Cleek of Hot Springs announced the marriage of their daughter, Mary Virginia Cleek, to Mr. George Thomas Smith, son of Mr.&Mrs.C.T.Smith of Elberton, GA, in a beautiful ceremony taking place at the Mt Vernon Methodist Church Washington on Wednesday evening, May28, at 8:15 o'clock. The Rev John Ruskin, pastor of the church performed the ceremony. The bride wore a white suit and white accessories and she wore a corsage of white roses. Miss Lucille Cleek, only sister of the bride, was matron of honor and wore a light blue suit with white accessories and a corsage of red roses. Mr. Julius Smith, only brother of the groom, was best man. The bride was given in marriage by Mr. Walker one of her co-workers. The mother of the bride chose a navy blue crepe dress with black accessories and a corsage of white roses. A reception was given at the groom's sisters apartment immediately after the wedding. The couple left the following evening for a wedding trip to Georgia to visit the groom's parents and upon their return will make their home in Washington, where both are employed.

Mrs. Cleek- Mrs. Bertha Gum Cleek of Route one, Pine Cedar road, Brooks, died Our Lady of Perpetual Care Hospital in Thursday afternoon where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. Mrs. Cleek was the widow of Benjamin Harrison Cleek who died in 1951. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Matilda Seibert, born and reared in West Virginia. She made her home in Atlanta for several years before moving to Brooks nine years ago to make her home with her son & daughter, Mr. & Mrs. George Smith.
In addition to Mrs. Smith, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Arthur Hill of Lanham, MD; a sister, Mrs. Clara Nicely of Covington, VA; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted in Haisten's Chapel Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev James Fields will officiate. The body will be sent to Hot Springs, VA, for services and burial Sunday afternoon. The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Our Lady of Perpetual Care Hospital. Haisten Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.

Mrs. Cleek- Mrs. Bertha Gum Cleek of Route one, Pine Cedar road, Brooks, died Our Lady of Perpetual Care Hospital in Thursday afternoon where she had been a patient for the past two weeks. Mrs. Cleek was the widow of Benjamin Harrison Cleek who died in 1951. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Matilda Seibert, born and reared in West Virginia. She made her home in Atlanta for several years before moving to Brooks nine years ago to make her home with her son & daughter, Mr. & Mrs. George Smith.
In addition to Mrs. Smith, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. Arthur Hill of Lanham, MD; a sister, Mrs. Clara Nicely of Covington, VA; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted in Haisten's Chapel Saturday morning at 10 o'clock. The Rev James Fields will officiate. The body will be sent to Hot Springs, VA, for services and burial Sunday afternoon. The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Our Lady of Perpetual Care Hospital. Haisten Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
