p.271 Thompson, Charles. Private, 1st MD Line, 5 Jun 1778 to 5 Apr 1779 (Ref: D-168 Archives of MD, Vol. XVIII. “Muster Rolls and Other Records of Service of MD Troops in the American Revolution, 1775-1783” (Baltimore: MD Historical Socy, 1900) p.168, which listed his name as “Charles Thomson”). In Dec 1816, the Treasurer of MD was directed “to pay to Chas. Thompson, of St Mary's Co, late a soldier in the Rev. War, quarterly, during his life, the half pay of a private, as an additional compensation to him for those services by which his country has been benefitted.” (Ref: I-399 Brumbaugh, Gaius M. MD Records: Colonial, Revolutionary, County and Church From Original Sources, Vol II (Baltimore: Genealogical Publishing Co, Inc, 1985, reprint) p.399). One Charles Thompson was appointed guardian of his son John in Feb 1796 (Ref: SO-237 St Mary's Co Orphans Court Proceedings, 1777-1801 (Also published in the Chronicles of St Mary's, Vols 34, 35 and 36) p.237).
