Pg 58 Saher De Quincy. He was active with Kings Richard and John in Normandy 1197-1199. On 18 Aug 1199, he was at Chateau Gaillard and witnessed the pact between King John and the Count of Boulogne. He was captured by the French in 1203, and in 1204 he returned to England. In his wife’s right he became the custodian of the vast estates of Leicester and Grandmesnil, and in the partition of these lands in 1206-1207, he was created Earl of Winchester. In Jun 1215, he joined the Barons against King John and was designated a Magna Charta Surety. In 1219, he joined the Crusaders before Damietta, where he died and was buried at Acre (2) XII, Part II, 745-754.54763
