Pg 321-322 “Major Jacob I. Gum served as a soldier in the Creek and Mexican Wars.” from article written by Lucian Knight and reprinted in the Baldwin Co History seems to have some incorrect statements. Jacob Gum could not possibly have served in both wars with England because of his age. He was not old enough to have served in the Revolutionary War, but could have served in the second war with England (War of 1812), and the Creek Wars. He was too old to have served in the Mexican War.25751
